Chapter 15: Quilava and the Horrible Trainer
As Anthony continued his journey, he sat down in an open field with his Pikachu. As they sat down to eat, Pikachu heard a strange, faint cry. Pikachu's ears perked up.
"What is it Pikachu?" Anthony asked. "I don't know, but something's being hurt." Pikachu answered. "You want to go check it out?" Anthony wondered.
Pikachu nodded his head and Anthony stood up.
"Well, then let's go see." Anthony said.
The two ran down the field until they saw a small area with rocks surrounding it. Anthony and Pikachu peeked over one and saw a trainer kicking a Quilava. The Quilava was yelping in pain.
"Hey, what are you doing?!" Anthony demanded.
The trainer looked over at Anthony.
"Mind your own business kid! I have all the right to do whatever I want with my own pokemon." the kid exclaimed.
The boy kicked his Quilava again it fell over.
"Help...me..." it said faintly. "And what exactly did your pokemon do to be punished this severely?" Anthony questioned. "If you must know, it won't do as I say. I told it to use Swift on these rocks, but it refuses to use it." the trainer replied.
Anthony approached Quilava, knelt down, and examined it. Quilava said something faintly and Anthony got back up.
"Do you know why your Quilava won't use Swift?" Anthony asked. "Because it's stupid and refuses to obey me!" the kid answered. "Okay, then answer me this. When did it evolve and how long have you had it since the day you first obtained it?" Anthony continued. "It evolved a week ago, and I've had it for a month or two." the kid replied. "Okay, then how do you expect your pokemon to use a move it hasn't even learned yet? Did you ever once consider the fact that it's not a hgh enough level?!" Anthony shouted.
The trainer stod there in silence. Quilava looked at Anthony with a 'I wish he was my trainer.' look on its face.
"S-shut up!" the trainer ordered, taking out a pokeball.
The trainer threw the pokeball at the ground and Sandslash came out.
"Okay Weedle, I choose you!" Anthony yelled as he threw a pokeball.
Chapter 16: Disobedience
The trainer simplye laughed at Anthony's choice.
"Anthony..." Pikachu started. "Relax, I know what I'm doing." Anthony assured Pikachu. "Really now, well let's just see about that!" the trainer bellowed.
The boy ordered Sandslash to use Slash attack. Anthony just smiled. Weedle suddenly evolved into Kakuna. This surprise stopped Sandslash long enough for Anthony to call out an attack.
"Use Harden now, max power!" Anthony shouted.
Kakuna used Harden just as Sandslash released its attack. Sandslash's claw recoiled and began to throb in apain from the impact.
"String Shot now!" Anthony ordered.
Kakuna used Strong Shot and hit Sandslash right in the eyes, blinding it. Sandslash ran around in a panic.
"Cheapshot!" the kid said outraged.
He threw another pokeball that contained a Nidorino. Anthony told Pikachu to use Iron Tail on Sandslash. Pikachu did so, causing Sandslash to fly backwards into Nidorino, knocking both out.
"I won't forget this!" the trainer declared.
The trainer ordered his Quilava to get up, but it refused to do so. The trainer kicked it, causing Quilava's flames to flare up. In fear, the trainer called back his Quilava into its pokeball.
"Can't do anything now, can ya?" the trainer laughed, shaking the ball violently.
The pokeball began to grow red from intense heat to the point where he dropped it, releasing Quilava.
"You dare to disobey me!" the trainer exclaimed.
Quilava's eyes burned with hatred as it released a powerful Flamethrower on its owner. The trainer ran away, terrified. Anthony called back Kakuna and watched as Quilava limped its way over.
"Please...let me come with you...please!" it pleaded.
Anthony put his hand on its back.
"Only if you agree to rest until we find another Pokemon Center." Anthony replied.
Quilava stared up at Anthony, smiling as it collapsed.

Chapter 17: Nurse Joy's Interrogation
Anthony didn't put Quilava in a pokeball, because he hadn't truly caght it yet. Instead, he carried it as they walked. Anthony noticed a deep scar on Quilava's back, and a few smaller ones.
"Just what did he do to you?" he wondered.
After travelling for a day, with Quilava sleeping the whole way, Anthony and Pikachu finally made it to a Pokemon Center. At the desk, Anthony noticed the trainer from the other day there.
"The nerve of that guy, first he steals my Quilava, then he shows up with it completely injured!" the kid exclaimed. "Stole?" Nurse Joy wondered. "Yes, he stole the Quilava I had worked so hard to raise. And from the looks of things, he's harmed him, poor Quilava." the kid lied. "Yeah, I stole it all right." Anthony said sarcastially.
Anthony brang Quilava to Nurse Joy and she examined it. She noticed the bruises and scrapes caused from being kicked. She looked carefully at Anthony's shoes, they looked like someone's who had walked a lot. She then examined the boy's, his shoes were worn out in places that would indicate kicking something. Anthony asked her to heal it, and she agreed. After she left, Anthony turned towards the boy.
"You're a bad liar." he mocked. "Who cares? You still stole it!" the trainer replied. "I didn't steal it, it left you because you mistreated it." Anthony pointed out.
Nurse Joy walked back and turned towards both boys.
"Tell me, why does Quilava appear to have been kicked relentlessly?" Joy questioned. "Isn't it obvious? He kicked it after stealing it!" the boy lied. "Really, is that why your shoes have blood stains on them and his don't?" Joy interrogated. "Well, I uh..." the boy stuttered. "He was trying to force his Quilava to use a move it didn't know. He then kicked it because it wouldn't use it." Anthony interupted. "And how do you know this?" Joy asked. "Because I can talk to pokemon." Anthony answered. "Liar! Nobody can talk to pokemon!" the boy shouted. "Is that so, then why don't you send out one of your pokemon and we'll see if he's telling the truth." Joy suggested.
The boy sent out his Sandslash.
"Now then, prove to us that what you say is true." Joy said kindly.
Chapter 18: Quilava's True Owner
"Okay Sandslash, would you mind telling me about Quilava?" Anthony asked.
Sandslash turned towards its trainer.
"Go ahead." the boy laughed.
Sandslash said something and Anthony glared at the boy. He then focussed his gaze back at Sandslash.
"So let me get this straight, when Quilava was a Cyndaquil, he asked you to train it with full force to get it to evolve faster. Then, after weeks of not evolving, he forced you to continually attack it until it evolved, even to the point where your claws pierced its skin until it bled. Is that right?" Anthony explained.
Sandslash nodded its head.
"I never knew people could be so cruel!" Anthony said outraged. "That's not what happened, you're just making stuff up!" the boy yelled. "Sandslash seems to agree with me." Anthony reminded. "You're lying!" the boy accused. "I seriously doubt his father would approve of him lying about something like this." Joy announced. "Big deal, my father would too if I was lying." the boy responded. "Yes, but your father is the current champion of the Elite Four!" Joy pointed out. "What are you talking about?" the boy wondered. "This boy here is Anthony Ketchum, I'd recognize him because he looks just like his father Ash Ketchum! Now, I would greatly appreciate it if you didn't lie in front of my face! What you did to your pokemon is uncalled for! If I was Quilava, I'd betray you too! As far as I'm concerned Quilava belongs to Anthony. Of course, if you disagree I'm sure Officer Jenny would love to hear about how you abused your pokemon." Joy explained.
The boy began to cower in fear.
"I suggest you leave now, and if I ever hear from anyone about you abusing your pokemon like that again, I won't hesitate to report your actions!" Joy suggested.
The boy called back his Sandslash and ran out the door.
"So you knew who I was this whole time?" Anthony wondered. "Of course, anyone who's met your father before will know who you are." Joy smiled. "How's Quilava?" Anthony asked. "Quilava's fine, it should be back to full health by the morning." Joy informed. "That's good to here." Anthony sighed with relief.
He gave his other pokemon to her to be healed and fed as well. He spent the night at the center. He woke up when Quilava started licking his face.
"Quilava's better now, and I think it's thanking you." Joy laughed. "So, you still want to come with me?" Anthony asked. "You bet." Quilava replied.
Antony set a pokeball down and Quilava went into it.
"Looks like we've got a new friend Pikachu." Anthony said to Pikachu who was lying beside him.
Later that morning, he and Pikachu got up and left the center, continuing their journey.

Chapter 19: Ash's Old Friend
Anthony and Pikachu walked into a old looking town. He noticed two trainers having a battle in the open. One was using a Charmander, the other was using a Growlithe.
"Two fire types eh? This should be interesting." Anthony told himself.
He and Pikachu joined the small crowd and watched the battle. The two both used some powerful Flamethrower attacks. The two attacks both pushed against each other until Charmander came out stronger. Growlithe was knocked backwards. Growlithe used Flamethrower again and Charmander dodged. The attack went in a straight line as it hit one of the wooden buildings, causing it to catch on fire.
"Oops..." the trainer panicked.
Suddenly a group of Squirtles arrived and put out the fire. All of them wearing sunglasses.
"That's cool!" Anthony admitted.
Suddenly one of them, with different sunglasses turned towards the crowd. The crowd clapped their hands. The Squirtle noticed Anthony, with Pikachu on his shoulder. As the crowd left, it got a clearer view of Anthony. Noticing the familiar looking hat, it approached Anthony slowly.
"That hat...are you...?" it began. "This hat? Don't tell me you knew my father too?" Anthony wondered. "You can understand me? Then does that mean your father was Ash?" Squirtle asked. "So you do know him?" Anthony said, surprised. "He's my trainer." Squirtle answered. "What?!" Anthony gasped.
Just then Officer Jenny arrived, she complimented Squirtle on his job as she looked for the people responsible. It was then she noticed Anthony.
"It can't be! Are you related to Ash?" she questioned. "He's my father." Anthony answered. "Well then, we have some things we need to talk about." Jenny replied.
Chapter 20: The Water Pokemon Who Feared Fire
Anthony was at the police station, where Officer Jenny had explained the dealings with the Squirtle Squad and Ash.
"I see, my dad is the reason these Squirtles are this town's firefighters." Anthony understood. "Yes, and the leader did join Ash for a good while. Ash still calls for his friend once in a while. In the meantime, Squirtle just continues to help our town. It's an old historic town, and we want to keep it that way. But fires are common in this area, so it causes problems. Also, Squirtle takes the time to spend with his family." Jenny explained.
Squirtle started to blush. Soon, a female Squirtle came into the station, along with a younger one.
"Is this your family?" Anthony asked. "Yup." Squirtle blushed.
Jenny soon made a comment that surprised Anthony.
"From what I can understand, Squirtle's been trying to get his son to take over his job, because he's getting older. However, there's one tiny problem...his son's afraid of fire." Jenny announced. "What?! But he's a water type?" Anthony said, shocked. "I know." Squirtle sighed, sliding his leg on the ground.
Squirtle's son ran out the door crying.
"Just mention fire and he runs away in fear." Jenny pointed out.
Anthony took the remaining time to ask Squirtle what he knew about his father, such as his current location and things like that. Squirtle told Anthony about adventures they had together, and admitted that he knows nothing about Ash's whereabouts.
"I see...Well, at least I know a little more about him now." Anthony sighed. "Listen, can you take my son with you?" Squirtle requested. "Why do you want me to do that?" Anthony wondered. "I learned a lot while I was traveling with Ash, I think traveling with you will help him out." Squirtle responded. "It would be up to him, not me. Also, I have a fire type pokemon now, and that might freak him out." Anthony informed. "A fire type?" Squirtle wondered. "Yes, I recently had a Quilava join me and Pikachu." Anthony confirmed. "That gives me an idea." Squirtle plotted. "I don't like where this is going." PIkachu told Anthony.

Chapter 21: Squirtle's Plan
Anthony relayed Squirtle's plan to Officer Jenny.
"I don't like it too much, but seeing how you are Ash's son, I trust you completely. We'll allow his plan to go through, but I'm going to need to make a few preparations first." Officer Jenny announced. "That's fine, I just hope for Squirtle's sake that this works." Anthony responded.
Anthony told Squirtle the news and Squirtle seemed satisifed. Although it took some time off his schedule, Anthony agreed to spend the night in the town. The next day, Jenny told Anthony that everything had been set. Anthony looked at Quilava's pokeball.
"Here's the first task I want you to do..." Anthony said.
A few hours later, a huge fire started at one of the stores, unknown to the regular citizens, the store's owner staged the fire. The Squirtle Squad was called out to take care of it. While they dealt with that, another fire broke out, this one being caused by Anthony's Quilava. Squirtle alerted his comrades that the one they were working on was more important, and that he'd deal with the smaller fire. He ran off by himself to the house that was noe on fire. Inside there was a little girl, in which Squirtle ran inside to save, putting out any fires in the path. The girl was actually completely safe, wearing a special material guaranteed to protect her from any flame. Soon a beam caught on fire and fell on Squirtle, stopping his movement. Anthony sought out Squirtle's son, eventually finding him. He told the Squirtle that his father was in trouble and explained the situation. Worried about his father, he followed Anthony to the location. Anthony told Squirtle that there was no way he could go in and help, and everyone else was busy. The Squirtle gathered his courage and stepped inside, putting out as many fires as possible. He found his father stuck under the beam and helped him out. They both got the little girl and ran outside. The two then worked together to put out the fire. Everyone cheered. Anthony walked over to Squirtle's son.
"Congratulations, you passed!" Anthony announced.
Squirtle was shocked by the statment. Anthony, Pikachu, and Squirtle both told the younger Squirtle what happened, and how everything was staged. Squirtle was a bit angry, but that went away when they pointed out he was no longer afraid, and that they were proud of him. Squirtle told everyone that he didn't think he was quite ready to be a firefighter yet.
"That's why you're coming with us." Anthony said happily.
Squirtle looked at his father, who nodded his head. His mother was there too, wishing him luck and a safe travel. Anthony held out his hand and Squirtle placed his arm in it. He waved good bye to everyone as they set off.
"Next stop...Vermillion City!" Anthony shouted.
Chappter 22: A Present From Ash
After travelling for a few more days, Anthony finally reached Vermillion City. He noticed that Pikachu was hungry, and figured that the rest of his pokemon were too. He stopped by the Pokemon Center to help them all out. Once he entered the center, Nurse Joy recognized him.
"You're Anthony Ketchum, aren't you?" she asked. "Um...yeah." Anthony answered. "I was told to give you this when you arrived." Joy replied. "What's this?" Anthony wondered.
Anthony tooked the small box she handed him with a card on top. Anthony sent the box down and oppened the card.
"Dear Anthony, I'm sorry I haven't been around for you a lot, and that I missed the day you set off on your journey. If you're reading this, chances are you've won both at least two badges and are doing well on your journey. I'm cheering you on and hope to see you at the Pokemon League. Consider this gift a late birthday present, and a late journey start gift. Use it wisely! Your father, Ash. P.S., I'm really proud of you!" the card spelled out. "Dad..." Anthony sighed, but it was a happy sigh.
Anthony opened the small box and saw a strange purple pokeball with an "M" on it.
"Wow, that's a Master Ball!" Joy gasped. "Master Ball?" Anthony wondered. "It's a special pokeball that's guaranteed to capture any wild pokemon just by throwing it at them. They're very rare and valuable." Joy explained. "He'd really give me something this powerful?" Anthony asked himself.
Anthony smiled and put on his belt.
"Thank you dad, I will!" Anthony promised.
Anthony gave his pokemon to Nurse Joy. Meanwhile, Ash was smiling on top of Lugia.
"You sure it was a good idea to give him that?" Zack questioned. "It's fine, I know he'll use it properly." Ash assured. "You still haven't told me exactly what kind of mission we're going on." Zack reminded.
Ash and Lance both kept quiet for a moment.
"What is it?" Zack asked curiously. "We're looking...for Cyber Pokemon!" Ash informed. "Cyber pokemon?" Zack wondered.
