Chapter 7: Anthony vs. Forrest! Battle for the Boulder Badge!
Anthony left Brock's place and headed towards the gym. Brock decided to go on a break and watch the match. He was interested in seeing how Ash's son would battle. Brock caught up to Anthony and told him that he would be watching the battle. The two walked into the gym, where Brock's brother Forrest greeted them.
"So, who's the challenger this time?" Forrest asked.
"The name's Anthony Ketchum." Anthony answered.
"Well then Anthony, I'm guessing you came here to earn a badge. So, let's get started shall we?" Forrest said.
Forrest snapped his fingers like Brock used to and the field appeared in front of them. Forrest started things off by sending out Crobat, and Anthony knew his best bet was Pikachu.
"Interesting, he's starting out the same way Ash did when he fought me for the first time." Brock said to himself.
Forrest had Crobat use Supersonic, and Pikachu knelt down while covering his ears. Crobat swooped in and used Wing Attack, sending Pikachu flying backwards. Pikachu regained his balance and used Thundershock, but Crobat just avoided the attacks. Crobat used Supersonic again and Pikachu repeated the process from last time. But, this time as Crobat swooped in with Wing Attack, Pikachu got up and grabbed Crobat by the wing.
"Great, now use Thunderbolt!" Anthony shouted.
Pikachu used Thunderbolt and shocked Crobat with a strong amount of power, knocking it out. Forrest called Crobat back and sent out Onix. Anthony was prepared and had Pikachu use Agility. Forrest wasn't too worried though, because Pikachu couldn't possibly hurt Onix. However, Pikachu landed on Onix's head and Anthony thought now would be the time.
"Pikachu, use Iron Tail!" Anthony ordered.
"What?!" Forrest exclaimed.
Pikachu whacked Onix hard on the head with the attack, knocking it out. Forrest called Onix back and congratulated Anthony by giving him the badge.
"He truly is the son of Ash." Brock thought.
Chapter 8: Ash's Intentions
Ash had just finished a little battle with Zack.
"It doesn't matter how famous I am, you're still the best trainer I know. All these years and I still can't beat you." Ash laughed.
"Oh come on, anybody can win with a Mew and rare Pikachu." Zack said.
"That excuse doesn't work anymore. Don't forgot my Pikachu is unusual as well, and I also have a legendary pokemon." Ash explained.
Misty suddenly heard the phone ring and walked inside. It was Brock who was on the phone.
"Hey Brock, you called at the right time. Ash is here for a change." Misty announced.
"Really? That's great!" Brock exclaimed.
Misty called Ash in and the two said hi to each other. Brock told them that Anthony had just recently won a Boulder Badge at the gym there. Ash smiled and said that he knew he would. Brock suddenly popped a question to Ash.
"So Ash, why did you hide from your son like that?" Brock asked.
"Because he has the potential to become greater than I ever was. I figured that if I stayed hidden from him, he'd seek me out when he became a pokemon trainer. Striving to find me, he would try as hard as possible to win. Therefore, it would push his abilities to the top. I know it was a bit hard on him, but he'll become the strongest trainer in history if he keeps it up." Ash explained.
Misty slapped Ash again, and Zack and Brock just laughed from the sidelines.
"That's one thing that never will change about those two." Brock laughed.
"Ash, how can you really be so inconsiderate?" Misty demanded.
"Inconsiderate? Misty, you think I liked staying hidden from him? I may be Lance's successor, but that doesn't mean I enjoy doing being one. Apart from Zack, I'm lucky to find even a few trainers worthy of battling me. If I were to stay home and be with Anthony, I would have had to teach him everything I know. Then he'd be in the same dilemma I'm in. He would be miserable!" Ash stated.
Misty gasped for a second, she had never taken that into consideration.
"He needs to learn what the world is like for himself, not have his father teach him everything." Ash said.
Everyone sympathized with Ash, especially Zack, which is why he rarely battled anymore. They knew it wasn't very nice of Ash to do what he did, but he was right. Anthony did have great potential.
