Chapter 23: What Are Cyber Pokemon?
"Yes, cyber pokemon." Ash confirmed. "What's a cyber pokemon?" Zack asked. "Long ago, when Lance and I stormed Team Rocket's base, thanks to a few newly gained allies, we discovered that the leader had been trying to create his own pokemon. Using the smallest bit of DNA from a pokemon, he was able to produce digital copies with physical bodies. Thing is, a cyber pokemon that gets knocked out disappears forever. To prevent this, a cyber pokemon will find a real pokemon of the same breed...and..." Ash began to explain. "...and merge with their body. This gives the cyber pokemon complete control over the original's body, one that won't disappear." Lance interupted. "What's happens to the original?" Zack wondered. "Their spirits become merged with that of the cyber pokemon. The cyber pokemon gains all of their memories, and all of their abilities. When this happens, it's like the original never existed and was erased from existence. It doesn't die, but it doesn't live either." Ash continued. "So, how do you stop them?" Zack questioned. "You knock them out like I said, but cyber pokemon or not, they're still pokemon. Defeating one of them is just like eliminating a real pokemon. I even went as far as to let one go that tried to take Pikachu's body. When I saw it there, I thought about my own Pikachu and couldn't go through with. I've yet to see that cyber pokemon again." Ash explained.
Zack thought for amount about what Ash was saying. He didn't know if he could go through with it either.
"How do you recognize them?" Zack asked. "First, they have unusual features about them. Second, they can only speak in the human tongue, you might say it's like me. I can understand pokemon, but I can't speak their language. Lastly, they're unnaturally powerful. They also only target powerful pokemon of their breed." Ash answered. "That's why I need Ash's help, because he can ask real pokemon about them." Lance added.
Zack understood as the group landed in a small town where a powerful, talking pokemon had been sighted. Lance asked people about it while Ash asked the pokemon about it. Zack stuck close to Ash. Meanwhile, after getting his pokemon healed, Anthony finally headed towards the gym. In the shadow, a mysterious looking Pikachu had set its eyes on Anthony's Pikachu.
"At last, after years of searching I've finally found a strong looking one. Let's see how powerful it really is." the Pikachu the Pikachu said to itself.
Chapter 24: Showdown! Pikachu vs. Raichu!
As Anthony entered the gym, he was confronted by a boy that appeared to be a few years older than him.
"Look uncle, we've got a kid with a little baby Pikachu!" the boy announced. "Hey, wait a second...!" Anthony scowled.
Before he could finish, Lt. Surge appeared on the scene. He instantly recognized the hat and the Pikachu.
"Listen Light, he's not someone I'd be calling a baby if I were you." Surge warned. "What do you mean?" Light wondered. "Let me guess, you knew my father?" Anthony guessed. "That's correct, I thought lowly of him when he first arrived. He sure showed me though!" Surge laughed. "So, you think he'll be as strong?" Light questioned. "At least." Surge answered. "Well, I'll be judge of that!" Light decided.
Lt. Surge and Light both led Anthony to the arena. Light and Anthony stood on opposite ends. Light sent out Raichu and Anthony told Pikachu to battle.
"Here goes the deja vu." Surge sighed.
Light told Raichu to use Agility. Unlike Surge, Light waited to evolve his Pikachu.
"Try and keep up with me!" Light dared. "If you insist." Anthony replied.
Pikachu used Agility as well, both pokemon were at equal speed. The two began an electricity fight while moving at the incredible speed. Amazingly, they were both even. The two continued this process for a period of time, both refusing to slow down or do something different.
"We have no choice, use Quick Attack and Double-Edge! Show him you're true speed!" Light ordered. "Pikachu, use Quick Attack and Volt Tackle!" Anthony countered.
The two pokemon darted towards each other with their attacks. As the two met, a blinding light flashed. Both pokemon were flung backwards towards the ground. Pikachu was able to stand, but since his attack was stronger than Raichu's, Raichu was not.
"You win..." Light admitted as he heaved a sigh.
The mysterious Pikachu had been keeping a close eye on the match.
"I was right, he is worth it!" it said happily.

Just so all of you know, the cyber pokemon don't play a major role in this fanfic. You'll see them a little bit, but until closer to when Anthony enters the league you won't be seeing much of them at all.

Chapter 25: Attack of the Cyber Pikachu
Anthony left the gym after receiving his badge. He did say good bye to Light and Surge, and listened to Surge's story about his battle with Ash before he left. Realzing he had to backtrack to make it Saffron City, he stopped by the Pokemon Center to get Pikachu healed. He left the town and continued his journey. He stared at the new badge he obtained.
"You were awesome buddy! Thanks to you, I've got my third badge." Anthony complimented. "It was nothing." Pikachu replied, scratching his head.
As they walked along, Anthony noticed a strange Pikachu lying down injured in the distance. He ran over to it and noticed it was still awake. He also noticed that its cheeks were an unusual shape.
"Are you okay?" Anthony asked.
The Pikachu said its name over like most pokemon do, but Anthony could understand it at all. He pushed it aside as he freaked out.
"What are you? You're not a pokemon!" Anthony exclaimed. "So, you realized?" the Pikachu asked in human speaking voice. "You can speak in the human language?!" Anthony gasped. "Yes, I can." it laughed.
Anthony noticed that the injuries it had were gone.
"So, what are you? You're no ordinary Pikachu! What do want with me?" Anthony questioned. "I'm not interested in you actually, it's your Pikachu I'm interested in." it answered. "Me?" Pikachu wondered. "Yes, you see...don't take this personally, but I'm taking your body." the weird Pikachu replied. "What?!" Anthony and Pikachu wondered.
The strange pokemon used its amazing speed to slam into Pikachu, knocking it far.
"Pikachu, use Agility now!" Anthony shouted.
Pikachu began using its speed, but the other Pikachu was much faster. It used Thunderbolt, shocking Pikachu hard. Pikachu continued to withstand the pain.
"I don't know why it's doing this, but we can't let it win! Use Iron Tail!" Anothony yelled.
The other Pikachu ran straight towards Anthony's. Pikachu slammed an Iron Tail attack into its face, knocking it into the distance. It stood on its hind legs laughed.
"So you've got some fight in you after all? This will make things more interesting! It only makes me want your body even more!" the strange Pikachu cackled. "What is that thing?" Anthony wondered.
Chapter 26: Repaying the Debt
Zack suddenly popped a question to Ash.
"Ash, why not catch them with a pokeball?" Zack asked. "We've tried, it doesn't work. Not even a Master Ball can catch one." Ash answered. "Oh, there goes that plan." Zack sighed.
Meanwhile, Anthony continued his battle against the strange pokemon. Anthony told Pikachu to use Thunder, which the other Pikachu used too. The two attacks met head on. The other Pikachu was surprised that Anthony's Pikachu had the strength to last for so long before being over powered. Pikachu appeared to be knocked out and the strange Pikachu ran over.
"Your body is mine!" it announced. "Pikachu, use Volt Tackle!" Anthony exclaimed. "What?!" the strange Pikachu gasped.
Pikachu lept up and used Volt Tackle on the Pikachu. The weird one was flung backwards and skid on the ground. It placed its paw over its body, and noticed something was wrong.
"That's one strong attack! Luckily it's weaker than me, otherwise that attack would've finished me." it thought.
Pikachu collapsed and Anthony ran over. The strange Pikachu alked over.
"Forgive me, but I need his body!" it said. "Why? What do you need it for?" Anthony asked. "Since your Pikachu was a worthy opponent, I'll tell you." it responded.
The Pikachu told Anthony about cyber pokemon. Anthony refused to let it have Pikachu.
"It's too late!" Cyber Pikachu announced.
Suddenly, Quilava came out of its pokeball, even though Anthony did not call it out.
"Quilava, why are you...?" Anthony started. "I heard everything, and I won't let Pikachu's body be taken over. Consider this my payment for saving me." Quilava replied.
Cyber Pikachu was wounded from the last attack and wasn't ready for another battle, especially against a pokemon it had no interest in fighting. Quilava let loose a powerful enraged Flamethrower, and Cyber Pikachu used Thunder. Cyber Pikachu's attack knocked Quilava out in one hit, but the Flamethrower took a toll on the cyber pokemon. After calling Quilava back, Anthony noticed that the cyber pokemon's body was becoming digital and disappearing.
"Go on, finish me!" it dared.
Anthony looked at the pokemon and thought about his own unconcious Pikachu. Even if it did try to hurt his Pikachu, it was still a pokemon. He thought of his own Pikachu, and what would happen if it died.
"I...I won't do it!" Anthony decided.
