Chapter 69: Cyber Mew's Message
Pikachu lay on the ground next Anthony inside the cell. He continued to struggle to move his body.
"Come on Anthony, snap out of it!" Pikachu pleaded.
Anthony still appeared to not hear him. Meanwhile, Lugia landed next to Ash.
"I'm sorry I didn't get here in time." Lugia apologized. "It's not your fault." Ash told him.
Zack walked over to Ash and put his hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry bro, we'll get him back." he assured. "I know, I'm just upset that I allowed him to get involved." Ash sighed. "It wasn't your fault either Ash, you did what you could." Red said. "No, I didn't." Ash replied. "Get up Ash, that's not the way the champion should act! Your son will be fine, Cyber Mew wouldn't do anything just yet or he wouldn't get what he wants from you. Now pull yourself together!" Lance exclaimed.
Ash slowly got to his feet. Lance walked over to him.
"You can still pull off your plan, just calm donw." he whispered.
Ash nodded his head and told everyone that they had to go. They hustled out of the city and began their search for Cyber Mew's lair. Shortly after leaving, Cyber Alakazam appeared. Pikachu and Eevee both growled at him, but Ash told them to stay back. Cyber Alakazam gave Ash a holographic video message.
"This is from my master." he announced before disappearing.
Ash played the messgae.
"Hello my dear old friend, I'm sorry I had to cut our last meeting so short. Don't worry, your son is fine. I won't hurt him, despite what you and he have done to us. I want to speak to you and your brother there in private. The others can come to the location, but should they show up with you two to our meeting, your son will suffer. See you then!" Cyber Mew explained.
Ash looked towards Zack, who agreed to come.
"All right Lance, Red, Jessie, and James...I want you guys to go in and save my son. Zack and I will have a little chat with our good pal there." Ash stated.
Everyone agreed to the plan and headed to the location descrived on the message. Ash and Zack rode on Lugia, Red rode on his Charizard, and the others rode on Lance's Dragonite. They were amazed when they came upon an old castle.
"I had no idea this castle was still around. I thought it was completely destroyed nearly a century ago." Lance gasped.
Chapter 70: The Challenge
Ash and Zack rode Lugia up to the castle's roof, while the others stayed behind and got off the pokemon. They barged themselves through the front door. Ash and Zack met with Cyber Mew on the top.
"I knew you'd come." he cackled.
Meanwhile, Pikachu ended up using all of his strength just to crawl his way over to Anthony. He nudged against Anthony's hand, but still no response.
"Please, wake up..." he cried.
Pikachu did the only thing he could, he bit Anthony's hand, and hard. So hard, that it drew a large amount of blood. The color suddenly returned to Anthony's eyes as he felt the intense pain.
"Pikachu, why did you...?!" he exclaimed.
He suddenly stopped when he saw Pikachu's weakened state.
"I'm...sorry..." Pikachu apologized before collapsing.
Anthony remembered his encounter with Cyber Mew and realized that he must've done something to him. He looked at his bloody hand, and then at Pikachu. He removed his glove and wiped the endless blood away with his shirt. He reached into his backpack and took out a small cloth. He wrapped it around his hand and picked up his pokemon. He looked out and saw that Cyber Alakazam was in the room, standing guard by the cell.
"We have to get out of here." Anthony thought.
Ash and Zack both met face-to-face with the leader of the cyber pokemon.
"Now then, here's the deal. You give me that Mew of yours, and promise to leave us all alone. In return, I'll hand over your son safely and you can go peacefully." Cyber Mew offered.
Zack looked at his pokeball with Mew. He knew he couldn't defeat Cyber Mew, no matter how powerful his pokemon were. Even though Ash could never beat him, Ash still had a much better chance at defeating Cyber Mew than he did. Mew wouldn't be able to hold out against a stronger version of itself, and Pikachu's strength wouldn't hold out long enough on Cyber Mew. Ash looked at Zack, and the two nodded heads.
"How about this? You battle at least two of my pokemon. If you defeat both, we'll both agree to your terms. If I win, you give me back my son and we settle this!" Ash proposed. "You...challenge me?" Cyber Mew wondered.
Cyber Mew began to laugh maniacally. He didn't fear Ash, not right now anyways.
"I'd be a fool not to accept your challenge. So, it's a deal. But, should you lose I get to perform an experiment on your son. I'll still hand him back safely, but he will not forget the pain." Cyber Mew laughed.
Ash looked at Pikachu and Lugia. Zack knew that Lugia was as strong as his Mew, because Lugia's strength had not only been increased, but Mew was still very young. Had Mew been older, Zack could've taken on Cyber Mew. Then there was Pikachu, his strength had been increased to make him almost as strong as his own. However, Zack's Pikachu would get too distracted by thinking about whether or not to use psychic attacks.
"Good luck!" Zack wished. "Don't worry, even if I can't win...he'll never get your Mew!" Ash promised.
To be continued...
Next time: While Ash faces off against the strongest pokemon in existence, Lance and the others must have some battles of their own if they're to save Anthony. And, how can Anthony escpae his predicament without being noticed?

Chapter 71: Mission: Rescue Anthony
As Lance and the others busted in through the front door, they encountered another cyber pokemon.
"The boss expected you guys to come here too. However, you're going to have to get passed me if you want to proceed. For you see, I am the strongest of the four guardians that serve the leader." the cyber pokemon explained.
The pokemon stepped into view, it was a Cyber Dragonite.
"I'll take care of this one, you all proceed ahead." Lance announced. "Right." they all agreed.
Cyber Dragonite proceeded to block off their path, but Lance had his own Dragonite knock him away.
"I'm your opponent." he pointed out. "So, you have a Dragonite? Fortune smiles upon me." Cyber Dragonite laughed.
Red and the others came across two stairwells leading up to different towers. The split up and went up the different stairs. When Jessie and James reached the top of their tower, yet another cyber pokemon awaited them.
"You've done well to make it this far, but it's over. I may not be the strongest of the four guardians, but I'm strong enough to deal with you." the pokemon cackled.
The pokemon stepped into view and revaled itself to be a Cyber Tyrannitar. Jessie and James prepared to fight it. Red finally reached the top of his tower, but was cautious upon entering. Anthony was insidehis cell and tried to think of some way he could escape. Cyber Alakazam realized Anthony had regained control of himself. He complimented Anthony and informed him that since he was holding his pokemon, he couldn't get away. Just then, a Flamethrower came out of nowhere and slammed the cyber pokemon into a wall.
"I suggest you let him go!" Red announced. "Red!" Anthony realized. "Hang tight kid, I'm going to get you out of there." Red replied. "So, you made it here? Too bad, but the master has big plans for this boy, and I'm not about to let you take him." Cyber Alakazam laughed.
Red called out his Venusaur to battle alongside his Charizard.
"Red, use Sunny Day! Green, Solarbeam now!" he ordered.
As Charizard used Sunny Day, Venusaur unleashed its Solarbeam on the cyber pokemon. Cyber Alakazam used its psychic powers to hold it back.
"It's useless!" he laughed.
Chapter 72: Miscalculation
Ash told Pikachu to get onto Lugia's back. Lugia then took flight, and so did Cyber Mew.
"Aeroblast!" Ash shouted.
Lugia released his attack on Cyber Mew, but Cyber Mew's Barrier was far too strong to break so easily. Ash told Pikachu to use Swift, but it surprisingly didn't work either.
"No way!" Ash gasped. "Come on, I know you can do better." Cyber Mew smirked.
Lugia and Pikachu began colliding attacks with those of Cyber Mew. However, it seemed that no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't pierce the barrier.
"Pikachu, let's try out our new move. Use Spark Wheel!" Ash shouted.
Pikachu combined a Volt Tackle and Quick Attack with him doing flips in rapid succession in the air. Pikachu's body slammed into Cyber Mew's Barrier attack, and nearly cracked it. However, it wasn't enough. Cyber Mew began panting heavily.
"That was close, I had no idea he could do that. Had that attack gone at a faster speed, it might've worked. I can't underestimate this guy anymore." Cyber Mew thought. "Darn, it was so close." Ash sighed.
Ash told Pikachu to try again, but Cyber Mew began releasing various attacks of all kinds on the pokemon. He was not about to let Ash have a chance to try that again. Meanwhile, Cyber Alakazam continued to hold off Red's attacks. Anthony noticed that Red was having lots of trouble with this one. He noticed his belt with his pokeballs hanging on the wall. He took out something from his backpack and threw it at the belt, causing one to fall. Wartortle emerged from the ball. Anthony told him to use Water Gun on the cyber pokemon. Wartortle did so, causing Cyber Alakazam's attention to divert. He ended up up throwing off the attacks towards Anthony's cell. This gave Red the chance to hurt the distracted pokemon. With one final Solarbeam attack, Cyber Alakazam had been defeated. Anthony got out of the cell while holding Pikachu and retrieved his pokemon, he also returned Wartortle. The whole place began collapsing from the force of teh attack.
"Let's get out of here." Red suggested.
As the two ran down the stairs, Ash had finally come up with a plan to defeated the cyber pokemon.
"Pikachu, get on top of Lugia's head." Ash told his pokemon. "What is he up to?" Cyber Mew pondered.
Ash looked at both of his pokemon, and both nodded their heads. Ash told Lugia to use Aeroblast, and for Pikachu to use Spark Wheel again. Fearing some powerful attack, Cyber Mew released a powerful attack of his own, striking Lugia hard. Lugia was able to keep enough strength to release his attack. Pikachu jumped in the way as Lugia unleashed his attack. The force gave Pikachu just enough speed to break through the barrier. both attacks combined proved a little too much for the cyber pokemon to handle. Pikachu was knocked out from the attacks, but Cyber Mew was too weak to do anything. He began falling towards the ground.
"I was too careless." Cyber Mew thought as he plummeted towards the ground.
Ash sighed with relief, fortunate that Cyber Mew had spent too much time toying with him. Had Cyber Mew been going full out, Ash would have lost.
To be continued...
Next time: Ash reveals the real reason he's been searching for Cyber Mew all of this time, and Cyber Mew proves that he's more real of a pokemon than even he himself believed. Also, the results of the other battles are shown.

Chapter 73: The First Time I Saw a Cyber Pokemon Cry
As Anthony and Red continued running down the stairs, part of tower collapsed inbetween them. Due to Anthony's weakened state, it caused him to fall over. Part of the wall gave way behind him and caused him to fall. Anthony grabbed onto the ledge, hanging on for his life, while still holding onto Pikachu.
"Anthony!" Red shouted.
Red called out his pokemon to try and break the wall between him and Anthony. Although he succeeded, Anthony couldn't hold on any longer and let go. As he fell, he suddenly felt his body hit something. The impact knocked him out, but he was able to open his eyes for a brief moment. He saw that he was on top of something white. He realized he was riding a Lugia. He looked down and noticed he was flying over the castle's roof. Down below he saw Ash wave at him.
"Daddy?" he wondered before completely passing out.
Lance, Jessie, and James had all succeeded in winning their battles. While Jessie and James met up with Red, Lance had proceeded with Dragonite to the roof. Lugia landed weakly on the roof, and Ash took Anthony off of his back.
"You've done really well kid, I'm proud of you." Ash said.
As Lance arrived, Ash handed his son and Anthony's Pikachu to him. He then proceeded over to an incredibly weak Cyber Mew, who's body had already started becoming digital.
"Even though it was purely luck, you still beat me. Better finish me off now, or I'll continue to hunt you down." Cyber Mew stated. "Actually, I don't think you will." Ash contrayed, taking out a strange pokeball. "You fool, you know that I can't be caught with a pokeball." Cyber Mew laughed. "This is a special pokeball, I call it a Cyber Ball." Ash announced.
Cyber Mew wondered what Ash was taking about.
"You see, the real reason I was searching for you was to try this out. I used a sample of the DNA from my brother's Mew, and created a pokeball that can catch even a cyber pokemon." Ash informed. "If that's true, then why didn't you try to capture the others?" Cyber Mew asked. "Because, I was only given enough funding for one. If it turned out to be a success, I would be given more. Also, you're the only one I knew for sure was still around, and if you were to be caught, you could convince the others to be patient. We've discovered a way to turn you into a real pokemon through different means. However, you continued to send the others after me, and I had no choice but to defend myself." Ash explained.
Cyber Mew's eyes widended.
"You were willing to do all of that...for me?" he gasped.
Ash nodded his head. Then, something that Ash had never seen before happened, tears began forming in Cyber Mew's eyes.
"Is he...crying?" Ash wondered.
Chapter 74: To Trust a Human
"I don't believe it, I never thought it to be possible." Lance said in astonishment.
Ash knelt down to Cyber Mew and dried his tears.
"It's okay..." Ash told him. "No, it's not. Because of me, all of my friends are gone! I'm the only one left! Even if you can make me real, I don't deserve it!" Cyber Mew cried.
Ash slapped him across the cheek.
"You idiot, because you're the only one left is why you deserve it. You're friends would want you to continue their legacy." Ash said.
Cyber Mew remembered the cyber pokemon whom he had killed.
"Pikachu...you were the only one to see these humans for what they're worth, weren't you?" he thought.
Ash held out his hand to the cyber pokemon. Cyber Mew realized that he was slowly disappearing, and wasn't sure how much longer he could stay awake.
"Just this once...I'll trust them like you did." Cyber Mew decided.
Cyber Mew held out his arm and Ash grabbed it. Ash pulled him up and used his Cyber Ball. Cyber Mew willing went inside it. Ash wasn't sure if it would work, but then it stopped moving. Ash had succeeded. Red and the others arrived at the scene.
"Hey, can you guys watch over my son for me, until he wakes up?" Ash requested. "Sure." Red answered.
Lance handed over Anthony and Pikachu to Red. Ash picked up his own Pikachu and boarded Lugia.
"I'll catch up with you all at the Pokemon League." Ash announced.
Ash waved good bye, and the others waved back. Ash headed off towards Pallet Town. Lance said good byes too and took his leave, saying he had some important things to do. Red smiled.
"You've got one impressive father." Red said quietly to Anthony.
