Well, I promised to get back to my other fics later in the week, so I will.
Chapter 31: Duel Against A God: Miracle Summon (3)
Syrus looked at the card again and looked at all of the beasts surrounding him.
"Play it!" Kyubi said. "I will." Syrus decided.
Ikue looked on in fear, there was no way Syrus could've drawn what he thinks he did.
"Now, I'll summon Nibi, the Two-Tails in attack mode!" Syrus announced. "Impossible!" Ikue gasped.
The crowd watched in awe as Syrus' disk began to glow. Nibi appeared on the field, and everyone was surpsied. Syrus knew what he had to do to win.
"I'll discard two cards to allow Nibi to attack twice! Since Genbu isn't a tailed-beast, it can't destroy Nibi!" Syrus announced. "What good will that do?" Ikue wondered. "Because, every time that I lose life points because of Nibi being attacked, you lose twice as many life points!" Syrus informed.
Ikue's eyes widened as Nibi attacked Genbu. Both players' life points dropped to 0. Before passing out from all of the damage he had received, Syrus saw Nibi approach him and lick his face.
"Thank you!" Nibi told him.
As Syrus passed out, Ikue was in disbelief, he had lost with a Japanese god card.
"In the case of a draw, the win goes to the home." Kaiba announced.
As Syrus' friends rushed down to help him, Ikue quickly fled.
"You're not getting away!" Aira shouted, passing Syrus and heading after Ikue. "You won't stop us! You of all people know that the gods will be revived!" Ikue yelled back. "Shut up!" Aira exclaimed.
Ikue managed to board a helicopter and take off before Aira caught up.
"Darn it!" Aira cursed.
Chapter 32: The Truth About Aira (1)
As Aira looked up into the sky, Kyubi appeared beside him.
"You promised you wouldn't let them get to you." he reminded. "I know, I'm sorry." Aira apologized. "You have friends now, even though you won't really admit it. They're part of this too, they need to know about the true power of the gods. Remember what I told you when we first met." Kyubi explained.
Aira sighed as Kyubi disappeared. Kaiba approached him and asked if he was okay. Aira told him he was fine, but Kaiba had his doubts. Syrus has been taken to the Tailed Orange dorms where he was resting. He awoke as Aira and Kaiba entered the room. Syrus was surprised to find himself dressed in an orange uniform.
"You did well Syrus." Zane complimented. "I'm only okay, because of all of you." Syrus smiled.
Aira suddenly felt a stabbing pain and crouched on the ground.
"I knew it!" Kaiba announced.
Kaiba and Yugi quickly grabbed Aira and placed him on the bed. Aira clenched his should in pain.
"What's going on?" Jaden wondered. "There's something you all should know." Kaiba said. "Aira, I know you don't want us to, but we're telling them the truth." Yugi told Aira. "Fine." Aira replied, still clenching his shoulder. "You all had problems with the Emperor Cards, and you all remember the stories of the Millenium Items, right?" Kaiba asked. "Yeah." everyone answered. "What happened in all of those situations to the loser?" Kaiba questioned. "They lost their soul?" Bastian guessed. "Yes, and I really don't like to believe in that stuff. Now, about what happens when you lose to the Japanese gods..." Kaiba began. "You don't necessarily have anything happen to you...yet. If you aren't useful, the owners of the cards offer your body as a sacrifice to the gods. When this happens, only two outcomes are possible." Yugi continued. "What are they?" Alexis asked curiously. "You either die and your energy is absorbed, or you become a servant of the gods!" Yugi answered. "What?!" everyone gasped. "If your body is absorbed, you can't return, this usually does not happen though. Instead, the gods prefer to use their sacrifices as servants to find more powerful servants. Still, even by winning a duel you can't get them back. It seems nearly impossible. Only one person so far has broken free of the gods' control, and he's right here in the room." Kaiba said in a low voice.
Everyone turned towards Aira, who was still cringing in pain. However, he appeared to have calmed down a bit.
To be continued...
Next time: What happened to Aira in the past, and how did Yugi and Kaiba meet him?

Chapter 33: The Servant's Name Was...Aira (2)
"Are you saying that Aira's body was scarificed to the Japanese gods?" Alexis questioned. "I don't know all of the details, but apparantly so. I still didn't want to believe in these things, until I saw something on the day that Yugi and I met him." Kaiba replied. "Wait!" Aira called.
Everyone turned and saw Aira sitting up.
"I'll tell them." Aira decided. "Are you sure you're feeling well enough?" Yugi asked. "Yeah, the pain seems to have subsided for now." Aira responded.
Aira tilted his head downwardd s a little bit.
"I've lost a lot of my memory from before and after the event, but I'll do my best to explain it. About 7 years ago, I was a young boy who had a thing for fueling. I was an orphan, and the only things I had to comfort me was my Duel Monsters cards. Despite my age, I was one of the best players around, always challenging everyone I could. People thought for sure I'd become the world's number one duelist. The, one day I challenged him...and I lost to the strongest of the Japanese gods. The next part I can't remember. The next thing that I can remember is that I was always with the man responsible, side by side." Aira explained.
Aira remembered his past. (Note: Until I say otherwise, the rest is all a flashback)
"You've done really well." the man told Aira, patting him on the head.
Aira smiled and hugged the man like he was his father. The man began raising Aira like his son, and in two years, Aira had grown quite a bit.
"Lord Suzaku is very pleased with you Aira, you're a great servant. The latest group has proved no use to us, but Lord Suzaku has found uses for them all." the man congratulated. "I'm just happy I could help." Aira smiled. "I'm surprised this boy was not chosen to weild one of the gods, he's the second best duelost out of all of us. And for his age, that's a rare feat!" the man thought.
The man turned towards Aira again.
"Aira, Lord Suzaku has another assignment. Rumor has it that a group of powerful beasts stand in our masters' way in their process of ressurection. They all want the two of us to go and take possession of these beasts, before somebody else does." the man announced. "Me, on a special mission with you?" Aira asked happily. "Yes." the man smiled.
Meanwhile, Yugi and Kaiba had both received a package from Pegasus.
Chapter 34: Aira vs. Yugi and Kaiba (3)
The video Pegasus had sent them told them about the secret organization that obtained the Japanese god cards, and all about the nine tailed beasts. Pegasus had said that he never created the cards, they were made even before Duel Monsters in Egypt.
"Great, just when I got over all of that pharoah nonsense." Kaiba sighed. "This doesn't seem like good news." Yugi thought.
Yugi and Kaiba both met up and took a trip to a special shrine somewhere on Japan's main island. Kaiba was interested, because Pegasus promised him possession of the cards if he retrieved them. The shrine had powerful spells protectin it from any evil sources, but they had already been destroyed. Yugi and Kaiba ran inside and saw two strnage figures approaching a strange altar, a man and a boy. The man reached for he altar, only to have his hand shocked by a powerful barrier.
"Not so fast!" Kaiba exclaimed. "Well well now, look what we have here. Seems like these beasts are popular." the man laughed. "Are you a holder of the Japanese gods?" Yugi questioned. "Ah, so you've heard of them? Well then, I guess you've come to stop us." the man chuckled. "Yes." Yugi answered. "Speak for yourself, I just want those cards." Kaiba said to Yugi. "You never change, do you?" Yugi laughed a little. "Don't you dare disturb the master! He's helping us revive the great lords!" Aira announced. "Watch yourself kid." Kaiba warned. "How about this? Why don't you two both duel this boy here at the same time? We'll discuss the situation if you win." the man proposed. "You think a mere child can defeat the King of Games and the previous champion? We'd be fools not to accept." Kaiba mocked.
Both Yugi and Kaiba snapped on their duel disks. Aira did the same. As the thee began dueling, the man placed his Japanese god on the barrier protecting the altar. The card slowly began to eat at the barrier. Yugi and Kaiba were both amazed by Aira's skill level. Aira had nearly defeated them, but then Yugi and Kaiba both managed to summon the Master of Dragons Knight. Aira was open for a finishing blow, and was defeated.
"That was impressive, but you two are still too late!" the man laughed.
The barrier disappeard, and suddenly a bright light emerged from the altar. The man's god card flew backwards into his hand. Standing before him, was the strongest of the beasts, Kyubi. The man laughed and put on his duel disk.
"Come now Lord Suzaku, let's show these fools who is really stronger!" the man bellowed.

I wanted to get Aira's past out of the way, so I'm posting another chapter or two of this before Legends.
Chapter 35: An Innocent Child (4)
The man placed the Suzaku card onto the duel disk, causing a blinding light to shoot skywards. In a blaze of fire, the pheonix god Suzaku appeared.
"Incredible, I haven't seen something like that since the Egyptian gods!" Yugi exclaimed. "Which makes me want it even more." Kaiba said.
Kyubi took one look at the man and knew what he was attempting to do Kyubi let loose a burst of energy, knocking Suzaku backwards.
"You're a fool to think you can control such power!" Kyubi shouted. "Control? Hah, I don't plan on controlling anybody!" the man luaghed.
Kyubi turned his head and spotted a weak Aira standing up.
"Then I suppose you're not controlling that boy either?" Kyubi growled. "I'm not controlling him, he's property of Lord Suzaku." the man replied. "Controlled?" Yugi gasped, looking at Aira.
Yugi and Kaiba both prepared to head up to the scene, but Aira blocked their way. Kaiba thought about ramming him, but suddenly stopped. He gazed into Aira's eyes and saw that he looked innocent. He remembered Mokuba and couldn't bare to harm the child. Suzaku attacked Kyubi out of nowhee, but Kyubi dodged the attack. Suzaku began to glow and the man grew weak.
"It's not enough, since this isn't a duel, I can't provide Suzaku with enough power. And since he has yet to regain his original body, his power isn't a match for the nine-tailed beast." the man thought.
Suzaku looked around, he couldn't draw power from the man anymore, as he still needed a weilder. He noticed Aira, and realized that Aira was under his control. He began to glow even brighter as he stared at Aira.
"He's planning to use Aira's life force?" the man wondered.
Kaiba realized Suazku was going to attack Aira and grabbed him. Aira kicked Kaiba down and turned towards Suzaku, like he was giving himself up. Kyubi remembered a list of names that he and the others were to be assigned to if they were set free. He saw the look in Aira's eyes and dahsed in front of him as Suzaku released his attack. Kyubi grabbed Aira at the last second with his tails, but Aira still received a massive burn mark on his back. Suzaku's flames began to eat away at Aira's body, forcing Kyubi to slash at his back with a claw, drawing blood. Aira screamed in pain before collapsing. Kyubi turned towards Suzaku and slashed at him, destroying the image.
Chapter 36: How It Began...(5)
The man looked on and fled in terror. Out of all of the beasts, he had to fight the only one who still had its original body. Yugi and Kaiba ran over to them. Kyubi nudged Aira's chest and realized the burn and scratch injured him with a life-threatening wound.
"Forgive me for this, but I have to save you somehow." Kyubi apologized.
Kyubi disappeared into a light that struck Aira. Aira's let out more cries of pain as his body began changing. His hands became more like claws, and his skin slowly peeled off into fur. Kaiba and Yugi stared on in awe as Aira's body changed dramatically. Another light engulfed Aira's body before fading, and Aira was now back to normal, holding a card in his hand. Kaiba remembered what he was supposed to do and ran over to the altar. Only two cards remained. Kaiba picked one up, but couldn't grab the other. He told Yugi to come over and pick it up. Yugi was able to do so. Aira opened his eyes and found himself lying on a bed.
"What happened, it feels like I've been dreaming?" he wondered.
Yugi and Kaiba walked into the room and Aira recognized them. He then realized that he wasn't dreaming, and began crying. He oculdn't remember much, but he remembered doing horrible things. Yugi asked if he had a home to go to, and Aira stated that he was an orphen. After Aira calmed down a bit, Kaiba took him among all of his employees, asking if somebody could take care of him. One employee, a famous duelist once known as the Millenium Duelist, decided to take him in. He had wanted a son, but could never find a wife due to his work. He and Aira eneded up becoming very close. Kaiba rememebred Aira's deck and looked through it.
"I can't believe this kid made a deck this good! With the proper cards, it can become unbeatable." Kaiba gasped.
Yugi and Kaiba both improved Aira's deck for him. meanwhile Aira stared heard a voice coming from his card. Kyubi explained to Aira what happened to him, and that he was solely responsible for stopping the Japanese gods if he wanted to redeem himself. Kyubi told him of a curse that Aira was now under, and that Aira would have to be careful. Yugi and Kaiba both gave Aira his modified deck, and Aira recruitted them for his mission. Two years later, Aira was sent to Duel Academy. Back in the present, Aira finished telling his story, though he had left the parts about the curse and what happened to his body out.
"Do you guys still want to help out, now that you know the power you're up against?" Aira asked. "Of course, we won't let you fight alone!" Jaden cheered.
Aira smiled and gave a little laugh of joy. Yugi and Kaiba were both concerned though, if Aira had felt pain from Ikue's pressence, then the gods must have gotten stronger.
To be continued...
Next time: The man responsible for everything proposes a tournament to Duel Academy and all of the other schools. Kaiba is forced to accept, when he discovers that the lives of every student at Duel Academy are on the line.
