G. Mt. Battle
This place is the main attraction for Trainers. Mt. Battle sports a
100-trainer marathon. Unfortunately, Cipher's taken over it. An Admin
and nine of his goons are guarding the first ten Zones of the mountain.
You will have to fight each one of them. These are hard battles, so I
recommend you save and heal in-between each one.
----Trainer Battle 1/10----
Rider Turo
P$ = 350
Opponents: Trapinch Lv35 Exp: 273
Numel Lv34 Exp: 319
Sandshrew Lv35 Exp: 348
They're all weak to water. So Feraligatr or Quagsire + Surf = pwn.
---------------------------
----Trainer Battle 2/10----
Hunter Drovic
P$ = 592
Opponents: Swinub Lv35 Exp: 292
Baltoy Lv36 Exp: 223
Larvitar Lv37 Exp: 265
Again, they're all weak to water. Surf pwns, like before.
---------------------------
----Trainer Battle 3/10----
Rider Kimit
P$ = 370
Opponents: Geodude Lv36 Exp: 331
Numel Lv36 Exp: 369
Sandshrew Lv37 Exp: 337
Surf her out of the arena. Pwned.
---------------------------
----Trainer Battle 4/10----
Rider Riden
P$ = 370
Opponents: Pineco Lv35 Exp: 225
Baltoy Lv35 Exp: 217
Houndour Lv37 Exp: 451
Graveler Lv37 Exp: 531
Finally, a Pokémon that's not weak to water... but weak to just
about everything else :-)
---------------------------
----Trainer Battle 5/10----
Hunter Telia
P$ = 608
Opponents: Trapinch Lv38 Exp: 297
Lileep Lv38 Exp: 466
Barboach Lv38 Exp: 354
Trapinch Lv38 Exp: 297
Surf everything but Lileep, who is the wild card on this team.
---------------------------
----Trainer Battle 6/10----
Street Performer Nortz
P$ = 592
Opponents: Cacnea Lv37 Exp: 384
Spinda Lv37 Exp: 336
Kadabra Lv37 Exp: 574
Nothing here's weak to water...oh, this is going to be hard as heck...
Just joking, this is a sinch. Cacnea goes down to Fire or Fighting,
but you probably haven't purified Hitmontop enough to have Triple Kick
yet. Spinda you can take out however you want, and use Bite or physical
attacks on Kadabra.
---------------------------
----Trainer Battle 7/10----
Hunter Weeg
P$ = 592
Opponents: Graveler Lv38 Exp: 516
Vibrava Lv37 Exp: 499
Sandslash Lv37 Exp: 645
Though two of them are weak to water, since they're all evolved Pokémon,
this will be the toughest of the 10 trainers so far. Surf the Vibrava
as well. These guys give out lots and lots of experience points.
---------------------------
----Trainer Battle 8/10----
Cipher Peon Kison
P$ = 1,480
Opponents: Houndour Lv37 Exp: 451
Duskull Lv38 Exp: 373
Koffing Lv37 Exp: 451
Kirlia Lv38 Exp: 540
A wide variety here. Bite or Shadow Ball the Duskull and Kirlia.
Take the other two out however you want.
---------------------------
----Trainer Battle 9/10----
Cipher Peon Berin
P$ = 1,520
Opponents: Geodude Lv38 Exp: 331
Geodude Lv38 Exp: 331
Sandslash Lv38 Exp: 663
Why so many Pokémon here are weak to a good Surfing, I don't know.
Surf away.
---------------------------
OK, I can't stress this enough. Once you defeat the 9th trainer, go
back to the reception area with the Pokémon Center and the PC, and
heal. If you couldn't afford enough Balls, go back and buy some more.
Most importantly, SAVE! You are about to face a boss! Please tell me
you have Noctowl at Lv35 or higher and in your party! Approach
the 10th trainer and an FMV begins. You will fight the big guy.
Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!

The FMV sequence involves Dakim and Vander. Dakim knocks Vander silly
and demands he surrender his Time Flute to Cipher. He's not going to
do it. Dakim talks about Ein's Shadow Pokémon Lab (another Admin you
will face later.) He then notices Josh, stops beating Vander silly,
turns around, and starts talking trash. Why do Dakim, Ein, and
ultimately, Cipher, want the flute? It supposedly possesses the power
to summon Celebi, one of the roadblocks in the Shadow Pokémon plan.

SHADOW Pokémon #19/48: Entei
P$ = 4,000
Opponents: Metang Lv37 Exp: 606
Marshtomp Lv38 Exp: 550
Camerupt Lv38 Exp: 712
Golem Lv38 Exp: 720
Entei Lv40 SHADOW Pokémon #19/48
This guy has an extremely tough team. He has this brilliant idea of
having his Pokémon alternately use Protect and Earthquake. Normally,
Earthquake hits all Pokémon but the user. But his allied Pokémon is
protecting itself. This means both of your Pokémon take massive damage.
For the sake of all that's good for you, don't use any Pokémon that are
weak to Ground-type attacks. In other words...
Ampharos + Enemy Earthquake = pwned. But be aware that using Flying-types
like Noctowl also may not be such a good idea. You might have to deal
with a Rock Throw from Golem or a Rock Slide from his other Pokémon.
Also, you've got to save Noctowl for the end of the battle. Lead with
Feraligatr and something else, as it can dish out Surf, which pwns half
of Dakim's team, and it can take more punishment than Quagsire due to
higher HP and Defense. Marshtomp is tricky because its only real weakness
is Grass, but Skiploom's too weak to battle, and I think Marshtomp has
Ice Beam anyway. Metang's physical attacks and Psychic will also pwn,
so the trick is to take his team out fast. When you take out his
third Pokémon, STOP.
You did purify your Shadow Pokémon, right? And please tell me you bought
all the Ultra Balls you can afford (at least 30)! That's right! You
finally get to Snag one of Gold/Silver's signature Pokémon, ENTEI!!
Entei is a MUST-SNAG. If you don't Snag it for some reason (Shadow Rush
backlash, running out of Balls...), hit the Reset button and try again.
Everyone thinks Entei and the other G/S Beasts are dogs. They look
more feline-ish to me. But it's just me, I guess. Nintendo actually
made feline-ish references to them in their Pokémon Stadium 2 Player's
Guide. Really, I think they're too fast to be dogs. And yes, all of that
Speed will be a big problem when trying to Snag it. The battle with
Dakim is by far your hardest yet. Beating his other four Pokémon is just
as hard as Snagging Entei. Here is my strategy, and it wasn't a picnic.
In case you don't do as I say, you'll have to wait until Realgam Tower
to Snag him again, and if you miss there, he's the second Admin you face
in Deep Colosseum. You face him the second time you enter, and every fifth
after that. There's really no excuse for missing him here, though.
First, I took out all of Dakim's other Pokémon, so Entei was left alone.
It was Shadow-Rushing its HP down. I immediately switched to Noctowl
and used Hypnosis to make it zonk out, making the Snag much easier.
More importantly, Entei can't KO itself from the Shadow Rush backlash.
Slowly but surely, I used weak attacks like Quick Attack to put its HP in
the red. At about 10% HP, I begun throwing Ultra Balls. I couldn't get
anywhere. Asleep and at 10% HP, it was breaking out of Ultra Balls. Entei
must be strong! And it is! It woke up, and Shadow Rushed a couple of times.
I was afraid it was gonna KO itself, but it didn't. It was at about 4% HP.
I put it to sleep again, and Snagged it on the next Ball. I was ecstatic
and let out a big sigh of relief, then said joyfully, "Entei, welcome back!"
Not only are the legendary Beasts my favorite Pokémon, they were all on
my Silver Version multiplayer roster! You Snagged Entei! Only two more
Beasts to go...

After you defeat Dakim (and Snagged Entei), talk to Vander and an FMV
sequence begins. He identifies himself as an Area Leader of Mt. Battle.
Terra then explains everything that happened. He then tells you why Cipher
was after him.
He then hands you a Time Flute, one of only three in all of Orre.
Grab the F-Disk that's sparkling on the ground. You'll need it soon.
Now, before you do anything else, go to the PC beside the reception
desk, and SAVE YOUR GAME! We don't want to have to Snag Entei again!
***************************
Here's the scoop on Entei. It's really powerful and really fast. It
also takes a REALLY long time to empty its shadow gauge. Thankfully, you
got a Time Flute after you defeat Dakim. The flute lets you summon
Celebi. But you can't catch it! However, it does something almost as good.
It fully purifies ANY Shadow Pokémon, regardless of how much taint
it has in its gauge. That means you should use it on Entei. Though
you'll find greater Pokémon later, having a fully purified Entei
really helps you at this point. If you choose not to do so, use
Entei in every battle, so its gauge empties. You get three Time Flutes
through the course of the game, so... I'd definitely do it, but it's your
call.
